The Cisco 3800 Series includes the Cisco 3825 and Cisco 3845 Series Routers. These routers integrate a comprehensive set of security features such as firewall, IPSec and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN, intrusion prevention system (IPS), and voice call processing with advanced wired and wireless services for rapid deployment of new applications that include application layer functions, intelligent network services, and converged communications.

The Cisco Catalyst 6500 series switch fabric modules (SFM), including the Switch Fabric Module 2 (WS-X6500-SFM2) and the Switch Fabric Module (WS-C6500-SFM), in combination with the Supervisor Engine 2, deliver an increase in available system bandwidth from the existing 32 Gbps to 256 Gbps. SFM is not supported on Supervisor Engine I-based systems. The Switch Fabric Module 2 and the Switch Fabric Module enable an architecture that allows 30 million packets per second (Mpps) of Cisco Express Forwarding-based central forwarding performance on Supervisor Engine 2 and up to 210 Mpps of distributed forwarding performance. The Distributed Feature Daughter Card (WS-F6K-DFC) is required to be installed on the line cards to deliver up to 210 Mpps of distributed forwarding.

This module supports voice, data, and integrated voice/data applications. For data applications, the VWIC2 provides a two-port WIC for T1 or E1 (including structured G.703 with G.704 framing) with an integrated DSU/CSU.

The Cisco VIC3-2E/M is a two-port E&M voice/fax interface card used to connect to PBX or key system as tie lines.

Cisco Voice Interface Cards (VICs) support voice technologies. VICs can be installed in interface card slots on supported Cisco access routers or in 1- or 2-slot voice network modules that are installed in network module slots on supported Cisco access routers. A Foreign Exchange Station (FXS)/Direct Inward Dialing (DID) interface connects directly to a standard telephone, fax machine, or similar device. This interface supplies ringing voltage, dial tone, and so on to the station.

Enhanced FXS port is able to connect directly to phones, fax machines, and key systems with loop length up to 11,000 feet (3.3 km). The card generates battery polarity reversal and caller ID. Also provides off-premises DID connection from central office and serves incoming calls from the PSTN.

An Ear and Mouth (E&M) interface supports tie-line facilities or signals between telephone switches. You can use the E&M voice interface card (VIC) to integrate VoIP with the legacy voice solution. The E&M VIC connects the Cisco router to a PBX.

The VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE cards are new generation VICs that are a hardware refresh of the older cards of the similar functionality, with resolved manufacture component issues. New functionality is also introduced on these BRI cards (which reduces the number of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) required).

This two-port ISDN terminal-side or network-side Basic Rate Interface (BRI) voice interface card connects directly to PSTNs and PBX/PABXs and supports both on-premise and off-premise connections. Supports a total of four voice channels in a single interface card via two RJ-45 physical ports, and enables toll-bypass and voice-over-packet features.

The 4- and 8-port Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Enhanced High-Speed WAN interface cards (EHWICs) can reduce your company's total cost of ownership (TCO) by integrating Gigabit Ethernet (GE) switch ports within Cisco 3900, 2900, and 1900 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISRs). These low-density Gigabit Ethernet switches offer small to medium-sized business (SMB) and enterprise branch-office customers a combination of switching and routing integrated into a single device.

Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2 (ISR G2) routers offer a wide variety of WAN connectivity modules to accommodate a wide range of application needs in customer network deployments. VDSL2 and ADSL2/A2+ are supported on a single WAN interface and thus this card provides a secure, cost-effective solution for a wide range of customers ranging from teleworkers and small businesses to large enterprise branch offices.

Suitable for both backup and primary applications, these cards support the latest 3G standards (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access [HSPA+] and Evolve-Data Optimized [EV-DO] Rev A) and are backward-compatible with High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS), Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), and EV-DO Rev 0/1xRTT.
